Marching festival set for Oct. 12

Baldwin City, Kan. — Baker University and the Baker University bands will be host to the 13th annual Baker University 1A-5A Marching Festival on Wednesday, Oct. 12, at Liston Stadium on the Baldwin City campus.Baker-0979

Bands, color guards and drum lines may participate for ratings or for comments only in the festival approved by the Kansas State High Schools Activities Association and the Missouri High School Activities Association. Audio comments from judges, a performance DVD and an award plaque will be presented to each band, drum line and color guard entrant. A grand champion trophy will be awarded to the highest-scoring band of the festival.

The entry fees are $90 for bands, $45 for color guard units, $35 for drum lines and $150 for schools entering all three units. The deadline to enter is Monday, Sept. 26.

Performances will start at 3:30 p.m., and awards will be presented at 7:45 p.m. Admission is free for the public.
