Baker to host 13th Annual Marching Festival

Baldwin City, Kan. — Baker University will be host to more than 800 area high school musicians at the 13th annual Marching Festival at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 12, at Liston Stadium. The event is free and open to the public.Baker-0979

Ten marching bands, two color guard units and three drum lines from Class 1-5A schools will perform.

Plaques will be presented to drum majors/color guard captains at the awards presentations, and The Jeremy Frye Memorial Championship Trophy will be presented to the total points champion band at the final awards ceremony at approximately 7:45 p.m.

Judges for the event are Rosa Adams-Bussard, director of bands, Olathe Northwest High School; Martin Dunlap, director of graduate studies in Education, MidAmerica Nazarene University; Sid Showalter, former director of bands, Hutchinson High School; and Jan Verboom, director of bands, Valley Center High School, Valley Center.

De Soto High School Drum Line, 3:40 p.m.; Midway Viking Band, 3:55 p.m.; Atchison High School Marching Band, 4:10 p.m.; Perry-Lecompton Marching Kaws, 4:25 p.m.; Pride of Paola Panther Marching Band, 4:40 p.m.; Baldwin Bulldog Marching Band, 4:55 p.m.; Ottawa High School Marching Cyclones, 5:10 p.m.; De Soto High School Dazzlers Color Guard, 5:45 p.m.; Louisburg High School Jazzy Cats Color Guard, 5:55 p.m.; Tonganoxie Drum Line, 6:05 p.m.; Louisburg High School Drum Line, 6:15 p.m.; Spring Hill Marching Broncos, 6:30 p.m.; Tonganoxie Marching Chieftains, 6:45 p.m.; Louisburg Marching Wildcat Band, 7:00 p.m.; De Soto High School, Wildcat Marching Band, 7:15 p.m.
