Baker student selected for Summer Science FellowshipBaldwin City, Kan. — Baker University junior Lauren Breithaupt, of Overland Park, Kan., was recently selected to participate in the American Psychological Association’s Summer Science Fellowship, which begins on June 16 at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. Out of 450 applicants, she was one of 12 college students chosen for the program. “Research opportunities are hard to gain at small universities,” said Breithaupt, a Blue Valley Northwest graduate. “Several graduate programs are now looking for a strong research background. These fellowship programs are perfect for students at Baker.” During the fellowship, Breithaupt will partner with Robyn Mehlenbeck, who specializes in working with children with medical conditions, including eating disorders and diabetes. Mehlenbeck’s current research includes working with overweight teens to lose weight. ### Baker University is committed to assuring student learning, and developing confident, competent and responsible contributors to society. |
