Golf tournament in Derby to benefit student scholarships at Baker University

Wichita, Kan. — The fifth annual Marc Roudebush Scholarship Golf Tournament, a fundraiser supported by The Sherwin-Williams Company for student scholarships at Baker University’s Wichita campus, is set for 8 a.m., Friday, Aug. 24, at Hidden Lakes Golf Course in Derby.Golf-pic2

The tournament has raised nearly $30,000 for an endowed scholarship, including $10,677 from last year’s event. The scholarship benefits adult learners who possess a work ethic demonstrated by Roudebush, a former Baker student and shift supervisor for Sherwin-Williams in Andover. Roudebush was posthumously awarded a Bachelor of Science in Management degree in 2007 after passing away two weeks before graduation. Business majors Marie Kurz and Joey Mahon received the first two scholarships supported by funds raised from the golf tournament.

Marc’s wife, Debbie, believed establishing a scholarship that would assist other adult learners in continuing their education would be a fitting tribute to her husband’s spirit and work ethic.

Tournament organizers are seeking specialty sponsors, hole sponsors and prize donors. Sponsorships are due by Aug. 3. Player registrations are due by Aug. 17.
