Economics professor receives top teaching award

Baldwin City, Kan. — Alan Grant, professor of business and economics at Baker University, placed first at the Economist Educators Best in Class Teaching Award competition. The contest is sponsored by Cengage Learning and focuses on the use of innovative teaching techniques at the introductory level.

Grant’s presentation, “Using Game Theory & Collective Action Experiments to Teach the Economics of Social Issues,” received the top $2,000 prize. Baker’s business and economics department receives an additional $2,000.

Grant will be a presenter at the eighth annual Economics Teaching Conference Nov. 8-9 in Orlando, Fla.
