High school artists honored at showBaldwin City, Kan. — Three area high school seniors — Sarah Sutterfield, Nic Ruby and Andrew Dowling — were honored on Friday at Baker University's juried student art show at Holt-Russell Gallery. Sutterfield of Lawrence High received the top prize, winning a $3,000 art scholarship and $100 for her photography. Ruby of Raymore-Peculiar placed second, earning a $2,000 art scholarship and $50 for his mixed media entries. Dowling of Blue Valley finished third, earning a $2,000 art scholarship and $25, for his drawing. More than 20 students entered the competition, featuring two-dimensional and three-dimensional pieces. All of the artists were eligible for university art scholarships at Baker. The jurors for the contest were Inge Balch, professor of art at Baker, and Jennifer Jarnot, an art faculty member at Baker.
