The Teachers of Promise award is presented by the Kansas State Department of Education to recognize, recruit and retain the best Kansas teachers for Kansas children. Teacher education students are selected by their respective Kansas college or university education faculty for the prestigious designation.

In November, Baker's Jesse Green, a biology education major from Baldwin City, Kan., and Tiffany Steinbacher, an elementary education major from Erie, Kan., were honored as Teachers of Promise at the Kansas Teacher of the Year banquet in Wichita.
