University launches accounting, mass media degree programs

Overland Park, Kan. — Baker University has announced the start of two new degree programs — the Bachelor of Science in Accounting and the Online Bachelor of Science in Mass Media. The projected start date for the accounting program at the Overland Park campus, 7301 College Blvd., is Feb. 25, 2014. The online mass media program is scheduled to begin on Feb. 24, 2014.

The 58-credit-hour Bachelor of Science in Accounting (BSA) program prepares students to enter the field of public accounting or for a career in today's business environment. Students will learn to analyze, interpret and communicate financial information that can be applied in any organization with an emphasis on financial, managerial and tax accounting, auditing and systems, change management, ethical decision making and effective communication.

The 44-credit-hour Bachelor of Science in Mass Media (BMM) program offers students a comprehensive introduction to traditional and alternative media, including print and online journalism, publishing, web design, social media, television and radio. The broad-based program prepares graduates for various career options, including traditional media, public relations, corporate communications, sales, advertising and Web content management.
