Baker's Jaqua, Welch-Ward honored as Teachers of Promise

Baldwin City, Kan. — Baker University's Lauren Jaqua and Nicole Welch-Ward were recently honored as Teachers of Promise in a recognition ceremony at Capitol Plaza in Topeka, Kan.Teachersforweb

Jaqua, a senior from Lansing, Kan., is majoring in English and secondary education. Welch-Ward, of Gardner, Kan., is completing her teacher certification licensure through Baker's elementary education program.

The Teachers of Promise award is presented by the Kansas State Department of Education to recognize, recruit and retain the best Kansas teachers for Kansas children. Teacher education students are selected by their respective Kansas college or university education faculty for the prestigious designation.
