Baldwin City, Kan. — Two Baker University seniors recently received Journalist of the Year honors at the Kansas Associated Collegiate Press annual conference in Wichita.

Tara White, Dodge City, was named Journalist of the Year in the four-year newspaper division. Taylor Atkins, Roeland Park, received the award in the yearbook and magazine division.

White, who was the 2004-2005 editor of The Baker Orange, the student newspaper, is editor of its online edition this year. She also is co-editor of La Vision, a bilingual newspaper produced by foreign language students.

Atkins is editor of the The Baker Wildcat, the university yearbook, and design editor of The Orange.

During the KACP convention, The Orange was honored with the All-Kansas award for overall excellence in the four-year private colleges division. This is the seventh All-Kansas award The Orange has received in nine years.

The Wildcat received a bronze medal in the overall competition for yearbook.

In addition, Baker journalists received 56 awards for individual entries in the KACP annual contest for newspaper and yearbook.
