Baldwin City, Kan. — The Baker University Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of J.D. Parr, will present the annual Chris Grubb Memorial Scholarship Concert at 7:30 p.m. May 2 at Rice Auditorium on the Baker campus.

The concert raises money for an endowed music scholarship in the name of Chris Grubb, a Baker student who was killed in a car accident in 1985. Donations will be accepted at the door.

The ensemble is a 17-piece band that performs in a variety of big-band styles. The concert will feature arrangements of classic jazz standards of Miles Davis, Chick Correa, Mongo Santamaria, Frank Mantooth and Thelonious Monk, as well as an original composition by Collin Thomas, a senior music major from Olathe.
