Baldwin City, Kan. — Baker University President Pat Long has named Lyn Lakin, executive director of the Diabetes Freedom Foundation in Kansas City, Mo., as Baker’s Vice President of University Advancement.
As the leader of the department previously known as University Relations, Lakin will oversee Baker’s primary fund-raising efforts. She will begin working at Baker on July 17.

Before joining the Diabetes Freedom Foundation, Lakin was National Director of Development and Chapter Operations at National Alliance for Autism Research in Princeton, N.J., Assistant Vice Chancellor of University Advancement at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and Regional Director at the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation International in New York.

Lakin, a Bonner Springs resident, is a member of the board of directors at the Kansas City Chorale and Community Health Charities. She is a graduate of Iowa State University.
