Baldwin City, Kan. — U.S. News and World Report has listed Baker University as the top-ranked private liberal arts college in Kansas in its 2009 America’s Best Colleges rankings.

The magazine defines a liberal arts college as an institution emphasizing undergraduate education and awarding at least half its degrees in the arts and sciences. Data for the rankings was collected from Baker’s Baldwin City campus.

The ranking includes peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, alumni giving and graduation rate performance. The magazine collects its data from the colleges and several other sources.
