NEWS RELEASE Athletic program enjoying successful seasonBaldwin City, Kan. — Baker University is enjoying overall one its most successful sports seasons and playing on the national stage. The Wildcats, ranked No. 13, will play Morningside at 1 p.m. Saturday in the first round of the NAIA football playoffs in Sioux City, Iowa. Baker (8-3) is appearing in the playoffs for the first time since 1993 and 11th time in program history. Morningside, ranked No. 6, qualified with a 9-1 record. In men’s soccer, the Wildcats won three games in five days at the Heart of America Athletic Conference tournament to qualify for the NAIA National Championship Opening Round. Baker, ranked No. 21, will play host to No. 6 Park University (11-3-3) at 7 p.m. Saturday at Liston Stadium. In men’s cross country, Baker’s Arnold Sirorei will be running at the NAIA national cross country meet Saturday at Kenosha, Wis. He is the Wildcats’ first national qualifier in four years. The Wildcat volleyball team recently finished the season with a 23-13 record after reaching the HAAC championship match.
