A bur oak tree will be planted at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 28, in front of Old Castle, 511 Fifth St., in honor of Henry Barricklow, one of the founders of Baker University. The public is welcome to attend.

Colleges of Distinction, a guidebook highlighting four-year colleges and universities that are considered "hidden gems," has recognized Baker University in its 2014-2015 publication.

The Baker University Community Choir will begin rehearsing on Thursday, Aug. 28, for the fall season. The weekly rehearsals are from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays at McKibbin Recital Hall in the Owens Musical Arts Building, 408 Eighth St., on the Baldwin City campus.
