Prerequisites & Transfer Credits

Prerequisite General Education Requirements

The following courses are offered on the Baldwin City campus. They also may be transferred from a two-year or four-year regionally accredited college or university.

  • Oral Communication (3 hours)
  • English Composition (3 hours)
  • Critical Writing (3 hours)
    e.g.: rhetoric, applied logic, argumentative writing
  • Humanities or Fine Arts (15 hours)
    to include ethics and no more than 6 hours in any one of the following disciplines: art, music, literature, philosophy, religion, history, theatre, international language
  • Social Sciences (9 hours)
    to include general psychology, developmental psychology (life span or approved course), principles of sociology or cultural anthropology
  • College Algebra* (3 hours)
  • Statistics (3 hours)
  • Sciences (19 hours)
    to include anatomy and physiology with lab, microbiology with lab, chemistry with lab, nutrition (general biology with lab or other sciences are not required but may be counted toward the 19 semester hours in science)
  • Electives are required to total 64 prerequisite semester credit hours

Total: 64 hours

Transferring Credit from Previous College Courses

  • Up to 12 semester hours of technical courses taken at other accredited institutions will transfer to Baker University.
  • Transfer grade points are not included in the calculation of the Baker University GPA.
  • Transfer courses in which a D or F was earned are not accepted for credit at Baker University.
