APPLICATION PROCESS

In order to begin the financial aid process, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), available from Baker University or high school guidance offices. This federal form determines a student's eligibility for state and federal funds by analyzing income and asset data. Some form of need analysis is required for all applicants, and all recipients of Baker-funded aid must be enrolled full-time. Follow these steps to apply for scholarships, grants, and loans at Baker:

  • Fill out Baker's Application for Admission and Financial Aid, preferably during the fall.
  • Complete the admission process.
  • Complete and submit a FAFSA (available from a high school counselor or Baker, or on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov). Use of actual income information rather than estimated tax information from federal tax returns will reduce the chance of errors, but use estimated tax data if necessary.  It is more important to complete and file the FAFSA by March 1.
  • Baker University's Federal School Code is 001903.
  • All applicants should be prepared to submit a signed copy of their family's income tax forms to Baker. When an income tax form is not filed, copies of W-2 forms will be requested.
  • Students whose file becomes complete after May 1 may have access to fewer aid sources.
  • Contact the Office of Financial Aid for loan applications and eligibility information.

Baker University's policy is to provide financial assistance to as many students as possible. Early action on the student's part is very important. It is strongly recommended that the student complete the combined Application for Admission and Financial Aid by March 1 to be granted priority consideration for funds. The FAFSA must be submitted  by March 1 to receive consideration for all funds. Applications will be accepted until funds are exhausted. Not all categories of aid will be available for spring semester incoming applicants.

IMPORTANT: Make copies of the FAFSA and all completed tax forms before mailing them, and keep them in a safe place for easy access.
