In his junior season, Baker University field goal kicker Derek Doerfler turned in record-setting performances. In the Wildcats' Homecoming game against William Jewell College, Doerfler made a game-winning, school-record 62-yard kick. The next week, he drilled three separate kicks from more than 50 yards away.
Doerfler was named the Heart of America Athletic Conference's Player of the Year and was featured in Sport's Illustrated's "Faces in the Crowd." For the season, Doerfler made 23 of 32 field goals and led the 'Cats in scoring with 89 points. Below, we have chronicled Doerfler's accomplishments along with a few other highlights from the Wildcats' 6-5 season in 2007.
