Friends, alumni of Baker can share their memories of professor

Baldwin City, Kan. — Baker University’s School of Education is mourning the loss of Machele Timberlake, assistant professor of education and coordinator of student teachers. Dr. Timberlake passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 10. Funeral services are planned for Saturday, Dec. 19, at Bannister Road Baptist Church, 7503 East Bannister Road, in Kansas City, Mo. You are welcome to greet the family at 10 a.m. The funeral will begin at 11 a.m.

Funeral services for professor set for Dec. 19

Baldwin City, Kan. — Funeral services for Machele Timberlake, assistant professor of education and coordinator of student teachers at Baker University’s School of Education, will be held on Saturday, Dec. 19, at Bannister Road Baptist Church, 7503 East Bannister Road, in Kansas City, Mo. There will be a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by the service at 11 a.m.

Timberlake died unexpectedly on Thursday, Dec. 10.

The Timberlake family and School of Education have established a scholarship in her name for a minority student in teacher education. If you are interested in contributing to the scholarship fund, make checks out to Baker University Machele Timberlake Scholarship Fund to the Office of University Advancement.

Early tuition discount for graduate courses offered until Jan. 8

Overland Park, Kan. — January 8, 2010 is the last day to receive the early tuition discount of $30 per credit hour for Spring I graduate open-enrollment classes in liberal arts and education.

School of Nursing students inducted into honor society

Topeka, Kan. — Twelve Baker University School of Nursing students have been inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, the international honor society of nursing, for finishing in the top 35 percent of their class.

The following students were recognized on Tuesday, Dec. 1, at the Pozez Auditorium at Stormont-Vail HealthCare:

Lena Cooper; Angela Hageman; Stephanie Houser; Jaime Joseph; Johnna Mobley; Leandra Monreal; Jessie Pool; Adrian Ratlief; Scott Rowland; Chelli Schuster; Kristen Zielke; and Emily Fernkopf.

Baker School of Nursing alumni Lula Moore, Class of 1999, and Nichole Potts, Class of 2005, were also inducted into the honor society for their roles as community nurse leaders.
