Restricted Licensure

Enter the teaching field while taking courses toward your initial teaching license.

The restricted licensure program allows professionals with an undergraduate degree in a specific content area or the equivalent content hours within that degree to teach at the secondary level (grades 6-12) or preK-12 for art, international language, music and physical education.

Program Highlights

  • Two-year program
  • 27 hours of coursework, both on-ground and online courses
  • Teach in Kansas while completing education courses
  • Become eligible for a Kansas Initial Teaching License upon completion of program requirements

Master of Science in Teaching Opportunity

Students who complete the restricted licensure program can take an additional 15 hours of graduate coursework to obtain a Master of Science in Teaching.
