RN-to-BSN Program
Baccalaureate Degree Completion Program
If you are already licensed as a registered nurse, you can go through the Baker University School of Nursing's accelerated RN-to-BSN program to become a baccalaureate-prepared nurse. The program, which is for registered nurses only, allows you to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing through 30 credit hours of study.
Admission Process
All admission materials must be on file in the Student Affairs Office at least two months before the beginning of the semester. (Late applications will be accepted on a space-available basis.) It is the responsibility of the applicant to assure that his or her file is complete. The Student Affairs Committee selects students who best meet requirements listed below.
Each new applicant must obtain written guidelines from the School of Nursing explaining specific program requirements that may have been adopted after the catalog was printed.
Admission Requirements
- Graduation from a state-approved high school or the equivalent
- License to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Kansas
- All program prerequisites must be completed with a grade of āCā or higher on a 4.0 scale, with an overall prerequisite cumulative GPA of at least 2.7. Only required courses will be considered in calculating the GPA. Pass/Fail grades will not be accepted unless approved by the Student Affairs Committee.
- All prerequisite coursework (except credits in humanities and electives) must be completed or in the process of being completed before the student can be accepted into nursing courses. Students are accepted into the program contingent upon receiving an official transcript designating a final course grade of āCā or higher in all uncompleted coursework and a prerequisite cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher.
- A laboratory component is required for the following science courses: anatomy/physiology, chemistry, and microbiology. Additionally, anatomy/physiology, microbiology, chemistry, and algebra must have been successfully completed within the past 10 years. If these courses were completed more than 10 years before application, current knowledge must be demonstrated in these areas by successfully completing a standardized test over the content or by repeating the course or courses. (Upon review, this requirement may be waived.)
- Applications that do not meet all BSN admission requirements may be reviewed for further consideration by the Student Affairs Committee upon request by the applicant.
