Flu Information
Below are guidelines for preparing for a possible H1N1 outbreak.
Be Informed
The H1N1 outbreak continues to grow in the United States and internationally. This flu is a respiratory disease caused by a type-A influenza virus strain and is very contagious. We are monitoring flu-like activity at Baker and encourage you to take precautions in an attempt to avoid the flu.
Symptoms may include the following:
- Fever higher than 100 degrees
- Cough
- Sore throat
- Headache
- Body aches
- Chills
- Fatigue
If respiratory symptoms progress rapidly, take this seriously and seek medical evaluation. For information on symptoms and other related information, visit www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu and www.kdheks.gov/H1N1/index.htm.
Be Prepared to Isolate Yourself if You Become Ill
Students with symptoms of an influenza-like illness are asked to stay at home and not attend class until 24 hours after the fever is gone.
Whom to Call
If you are ill, contact your professors to make arrangements so you can keep up with your coursework.
Please feel free to contact us with your questions and concerns. Baker University is committed to the safety and health of our students.
