Faculty Application Procedures
An application, resume and transcript will be requested from the potential candidate if one is not on file. Based on a review of the applicant’s credentials, the potential candidate may be invited to participate in faculty assessment. Faculty assessment procedures are different for on-ground candidates who want to teach in a physical classroom environment than for online candidates.

Assessment Procedures for On-Ground Faculty
After candidates interested in teaching on-ground classes at Baker University submit a teaching application, selected applicants will be invited to participate in an assessment process, an orientation session and a classroom observation experience.
Once the faculty review is completed, selected faculty may be offered teaching opportunities on a course-by-course basis as needed for Baker’s various programs.
Assessment Procedures for Online Faculty
After candidates interested in teaching online classes at Baker University submit a teaching application and resume, the materials will be reviewed. Selected applicants will be invited to participate in an assessment process wherein faculty candidates are assigned to an online assessment shell within our learning management system. Candidates will use the shell to demonstrate online course management skills, as well as instructional skills such as interaction and feedback abilities. Candidates will participate in an orientation session and a course observation experience.
Once the faculty review is completed, selected faculty may be offered teaching opportunities on a course-by-course basis as needed for Baker’s various programs.
The Baker Instruction Department offers training for current Baker faculty members who are interested in becoming eligible to teach online. All online instructors must complete training before they are assigned to teach an online course.
