SPLT Adds Proposed Core Values Statement for Draft Strategic Plan
A University’s Core Values characterize the organizational culture and serve as the foundation for all policies, procedures, practices, and plans. During extensive retreat meetings, the Strategic Planning Leadership Teams moved through numerous exercised that unveiled the core values of the Baker CAS culture. These values served as a fundamental guide as the SPLT sifted through reports, analysis, and other documents to formulate a vision, mission, strategic initiatives, and enabling factors.
Given the importance of Core Values to the characterization of our organizational culture and our planning processes, the SPLT has now included a draft description of our Core Values in the proposed Shaping the Future planning document. The full document, including core values, is attached to this e-mail.

SPLT Completes Draft Strategic Plan
The Strategic Planning Leadership Team (SPLT) is pleased to announce that the results of our collective planning effort are now compiled in a draft strategic plan entitled “Shaping Our Future”. The content of the plan grew out of the task force group reports and SWOT analysis, and is consistent with NCA Higher Learning Commission expectations. Clearly this was a community-wide effort and all involved should take pride in their participation in a process that will help shape the successful future of our College.

SPLT members will utilize feedback from the Baker community to revise the documents over the summer. We expect to have a final draft to present to the Board of Trustees for approval at the October 2004 meeting.
