Wildcats set to face local rival Ottawa University Tuesday afternoon
Baker Baseball

Coach Hannon and the Wildcats will have their home opener Tuesday afternoon.

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The Baker baseball team will play its home opener against Ottawa University at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Sauder Field.

The Wildcats look to get back on the diamond after having to sit out a weekend due to inclement weather in the Midwest.

Baker enters the game 0-2 after falling to Rogers State in two very close contests. Sophomore Chris Cummins threw six scoreless innings for the Wildcats in game one and only gave up three hits. In the second game, centerfielder Jeremy Wright highlighted the Wildcats’ play by going 2-3 and stealing a base.

Ottawa carries a 1-3 record after dropping two games to Southern Nazarene University (Okla.) and splitting with Evangel University. In their 8-3 win over Evangel, catcher Christian Rivera led the way offensively, going 3-4 at the plate.

The Wildcats will take on Mount Mercy of the Midwest Collegiate Conference (4-4) this upcoming weekend in Baldwin City, Kan.
