Baker baseball drops doubleheader at Lindenwood University

Senior Dustin Moomau went five innings Sunday afternoon.

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - After starting out the season 2-0 in conference play, the Baker men's baseball team dropped a weekend doubleheader at Lindenwood University this past weekend. Baker dropped the first game 4-2 and the second 13-5.

Lindenwood jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the opening game of the doubleheader on Sunday afternoon. Senior Dustin Moomau allowed five hits in five innings, struck out five and walked four en route to the 4-2 loss. Offensively, Nick Peterson led the way for the Wildcats going 1-for-3 at the plate with two RBI's. View the box score here.

The final game of the doubleheader saw the flood gates open. Lindenwood jumped out to an early 7-0 lead through three innings, a lead in which Baker was never able to recover. Junior Joel Murphy gave up seven runs on five hits while walking four through 1.1 innings. The Wildcats rallied to scored three runs in the top of the third to close the gap to 7-3, but Lindenwood countered with two more runs in the bottom half of the inning to push the lead to 9-3. Dustin Moomau led the way offensively going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI's. View the box score here.

Baker (5-7, 2-2) will be back in action Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Central Methodist University (5-8, 2-4) for a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader with the Eagles.
