BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – On a day where the temperature dropped 20 degrees between games, the Baker Wildcats (7-9, 4-4) split a doubleheader with conference foe Missouri Valley College (3-9, 3-5) Friday afternoon. Baker dropped the first game 5-4 in extra innings and won the nightcap 15-5.

Senior Dustin Moomau started the game on the mound going 4.1 innings while giving up three earned runs on five hits.

Offensively, the Wildcats were led by junior Brandon Truitt. Truitt went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

The nightcap saw the offense explode for the Wildcats. Baker put up five runs in the first inning, three runs in the second inning, and one run in the third inning to jump out to an early 9-0 lead.

Freshman Bryce Daily pitched five innings giving up two earned runs on three hits in the 15-5 victory.

Nick Peterson highlighted the night in the bottom of the sixth inning when he blasted a grand slam over the left field fence to give Baker a 14-5 advantage. Peterson finished the game 3-for-4 with seven RBIs.

The Wildcats will meet St. Mary’s on Sunday afternoon in Baldwin City, Kan., weather permitting.
