Wildcats sweep Benedictine College

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University baseball picked up two huge conference victories this past weekend sweeping Benedictine College Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Chris Cummins pitched a complete game, and the Baker baseball team escaped with a victory in game one.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, Bryce Daily hit a sharp grounder that went through the legs of Benedictine second baseman Cameron Griego, Nick Peterson scored and Baker escaped with the 5-4 victory.

Game two saw another dominating pitching performance. Sophomore Nathan Wheelock pitched 5.2 innings while giving up one earned run in the 5-1 victory.

Offensively, the Baker bats were red hot racking up 10 hits on five runs.

The Wildcats (11-12, 7-5) will be back in action Monday afternoon when they travel to Benedictine College for a 1:00 p.m., doubleheader.
