BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Four Baker student-athletes were among the list of All-Heart of America Athletic Conference baseball players, released Thursday afternoon. In a vote by league coaches, pitcher Chris Cummins (Corona, Calif.) garnered first-team accolades, followed by senior second baseman Nick Peterson (Olathe, Kan.) who along with being named to the first-team, was also awarded the gold glove for his stellar play at second base.

Catcher Brandon Truitt (Kansas City, Kan.) was named to the second team, while shortstop Steven Stuart (Shawnee, Kan.) was an honorable mention.

The Baker University baseball program is partnering with the National Negro League Baseball Museum to showcase the great American pastime in May and June.

From May 17 to June 20, the Negro League Baseball Museum will bring its traveling exhibit, 'Discover Greatness,' to Holt-Russell Gallery on the Baldwin City campus. The exhibit will provide an educational opportunity for more than 300 baseball players and their families as they make their way to Baldwin City this spring.

A couple of baseball events, hosted by Baker, are scheduled in conjunction with the exhibit. A throwback re-enactment game on May 31 will be played at Sauder Field.

The Baker University Wildcat Wood Bat Invitational on June 10-13 at Sauder Field will feature 20 youth baseball teams from the Midwest.

If you are interested in contributing to a fund to bring the traveling exhibit to Baldwin, please contact Baker baseball coach Phil Hannon at (785) 594-8493 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.">
