In the second game, William Jewell (23-15, 10-10) broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the seventh to go up by a run. In the bottom of the seventh as the rain began to pour, Matthew Abel reached on a walk and advanced to second on a passed ball and to third on Jose Orozco’s sacrifice bunt. After a Jared Herbert pop-up and an intentional walk for Truitt, Josh Zach reached base and Abel scored on a Cardinal error. Chase Dengel singled to right field for the winning RBI in a 4-3 victory.
On Saturday, Baker dropped the first game 6-0 before the bats came alive in the second game for a 6-0 Wildcat victory.
Taylor Edging, Sean McAlister and Brian Replogle all recorded victories. Christopher Cummins went nine innings in the first game on Friday, tallying 13 strikeouts. Truitt led the way at the plate, batting .428 with six hits and five RBIs. Orozco batted .384 with five hits and one RBI.
Baker looks to keep the momentum going with the continuation of a game on Tuesday against Benedictine at Sauder Field. The game, halted by rain earlier this season, will resume in the fifth inning.
