Baker splits with MNU, will look for series victory Monday night
OLATHE, Kan. – Chris Cummins pitched a gem in game one, but the Baker offense wasn’t able to put anything together in game two as the Wildcats split a key conference doubleheader with MidAmerica Nazarene (27-11, 17-5 HAAC) on Saturday afternoon.
Baker (16-19, 9-13 HAAC) essentially needs two victories tonight to keep its hopes alive of making the Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament.
Brandon Truitt continues to pace the Baker offense with .430 batting average and 29 RBI’s, good enough for 23rd nationally. Chris Cummins leads the Baker pitching staff with a 3.31 ERA and averages 10.8 strikeouts per nine innings, good enough for 19th nationally.
Baker will need to figure out a way to shutdown Donnie Macleod of MNU on the base paths as he comes into play ranked 21st nationally with .64 stolen bases per game. As a team, the Pioneers rank third nationally with 3.2 stolen bases per game.
First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m. tonight from Sauder Field.
