BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University baseball team returns to the diamond on Saturday as the Wildcats welcome Graceland University for a neutral site game in Lawrence, Kan., at Free State High School for 1 p.m., doubleheader.

Baker (11-10, 1-1 HAAC) is coming off a split with Central Methodist University in their HAAC opener this past weekend. The Wildcats took a 13-4 victory in game one, before falling 5-4 in game two.

Bryan Kindle led the way for Baker in the opener going 3-for-5 at the plate with three RBI’s. Justin Lane also finished with three RBI’s thanks to a three-run homer in the fourth inning to give Baker a 10-0 lead.

Chris Cummins (3-1) pitched a complete game while giving up seven hits and four earned runs. He also recorded 12 strikeouts in the contest.

Baker jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in game two, but Central Methodist managed to claw its way back into the game thanks to one run in the first inning and three in the sixth.

After a leadoff single in the sixth by CMU’s Dustin Ray, Baker turned a double play on a grounder by Brennen Wood. It wasn’t enough. After an error by the Wildcats on the following play, CMU strung together two more hits along with a walk and a hit batter to take a 5-4 lead heading into the top of the seventh, where Baker couldn’t rally to tie the game.
