ATCHISON, Kan. – Anytime Benedictine and Baker square off it takes on more meaning in the grand scheme of a teams respective season.

This past weekend wasn’t any different for the Baker baseball team as the Wildcats split their season series with the Ravens. Baker dropped the opener on Saturday, 11-7, but bounced back with a 10-1 victory in the nightcap and 4-3 win in Sunday’s opener. The Ravens closed out Sunday’s doubleheader with a 6-1 victory.

Joshua Zach and Steven Stewart led the Baker offense with respective batting averages of .500 and .462 for the weekend. Zach finished with six hits and three RBI’s while Stewart also checked in with six hits and two RBI’s.

Bryan Kindle was Baker’s leading run producer with five RBI’s.

On the mound James Gricol (4-0) picked up his fourth win of the season after throwing six innings with five hits and no earned runs in the 10-1 decision. Chris Cummins (6-1) continues to be stellar on the mound as he picked up his team leading sixth victory of the year. Cummins recorded his sixth-consecutive complete game in the 4-3 victory.

Baker welcomes non-conference foe Park University (15-12) to Sauder Field on Tuesday afternoon for a 2 p.m., doubleheader.
