Nathan Wheelock picked up the victory in game two, pitching six innings while giving up seven hits and two earned runs.
Baker again got on the scoreboard early thanks to a string of hits from Stewart and Orozco, giving Baker a 1-0 lead. Culver answered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning; the only two earned runs Wheelock gave up.
Baker added three more runs in the fifth and two in the seventh. Culver answered with one run in the sixth and countered Baker’s two in the seventh, but it wasn’t enough as Thomas Hawkins closed the game out in relief, giving the Wildcats a key 6-5 victory.
Baker (21-16, 9-5 HAAC) returns to action on Apr. 10 for a non-conference showdown against Tabor College at 4 p.m., from Sauder Field.
