CRETE, Neb. – The Baker University baseball team fell in its first two games of a four game set at No. 23 ranked Doane College, 3-1 in game one and 13-1 in game two.

Baker is currently 1-9 on the year and will take on the Tigers at 1:30 on Friday for another doubleheader.

In game one, Brett Lechien took the mound and went 5.1 innings giving up just two earned runs and struck out two batters, he also leadoff for the Wildcats at the plate.

Tim Carlson got the win for Doane and gave up just five hits and struck out six Wildcats. The Duo of Lechien and Justin Bye allowed only three hits to Doane.

The Wildcats and Tigers went scoreless through three innings, and then Baker scored first in the top of the fourth on a Bryan Kindle single that scored Josh Zach on a throwing error.

But Doane responded with two runs in the fifth and another insurance run in the sixth inning.

In game two, Doane jumped on Baker starting pitcher Ryan Hahn in the bottom of the second inning scoring eight runs on just one hit, Hahn walked six batters in the inning.

Lechien went 1-for-3 in game two and Neal Boyce knocked in the lone RBI and went 1-for-2.
