The Yellowjackets improved to 11-11 on the year and 2-4 in the HAAC. Baker was scheduled to play Graceland on Sunday, Mar. 24 in a doubleheader at BU's Sauder Field, but those games have been cancelled due to a winter storm heading towards Baldwin City.
Baker put up four runs early on GU with two in the first and two in the second. The Wildcats scored its first run on a Bryan Kindle RBI that scored Brett Lechien. Justin Lane then reached on a fielder's choice that scored Josh Zach.
Graceland responded with a run of its own in the first off of starter Jimmy Gricol. Alex Pena scored on a Chase Kuehl single.
In the second, Baker extended its lead with a Brett Lechien RBI single that scored Tevin Thompson.
The Josh Zach came up and doubled down the left field line that scored Lechien from second.
Graceland then added a run in the third and opened up the floodgates with four in the fourth and two in the fifth and shut down the Wildcats bats in the sixth and seventh innings.
Gricol went four innings for Baker and Justin Bye went two. Baker collected 10 his on Graceland's three pitchers, as Lechien, Zach and Justin Lane all had two hits.
In game two, the two teams played nine innings and the Wildcats actually waited until the ninth inning to score its three runs.
The Yellowjackets put one run on the board in the third inning, then scored two in the sixth and four in the seventh.
Baker scored its three runs with a Josh Ackerman RBI single, a Matt Fry RBI fielder's choice and a Ethan Jacks knocked in Gabe Greenbaum on an error by the center fielder.
The Wildcats will next take on Evangel on Tuesday, Mar. 26 at 1 and 3 p.m. at Baker's Sauder Field.
