BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Former Baker University standout's Chris Cummins and Vidal Nuno will continue their professional baseball career's this Spring, as Cummins just signed with the Frontier Greys of the Frontier League, an Independent Professional Baseball League, and Nuno will join the New York Yankees at Spring Training in Tampa, Fla., next week.
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Two former Baker University standouts, a former coach and current coach who starred in football and baseball at Baker will be inducted into the University’s Athletic Hall of Fame at 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 5, at the Baker University Athletic Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Banquet at the Sheraton Overland Park Hotel at the Convention Center.
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Baker scored just four total runs in the entire series against the Pioneers, but it ended up being enough to earn a split this past weekend.
Chris Cummins picked up his team leading eighth victory in the series opener on Friday. Cummins gave up just three hits and one earned run in the complete game 2-1 victory. Josh Zach, Brett Lechien and Bryan Kindle led the BU offense with two hits apiece.
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University baseball team couldn’t overcome the offensive power of 17th ranked Tabor College on Tuesday evening. The Jays‘ took the opener 10-3 and followed that with an 11-4 victory in the nightcap.
Bryan Kindle, Steven Stewart, and Ryan Thompson all recorded RBIs in the opener, but Tabor’s seven unanswered runs in the sixth and seventh innings sealed the Wildcats’ fate. View the game one box.
CANTON, Mo. – Chris Cummins wasted no time on Saturday afternoon, picking up his team-leading seventh victory of the season in a 1-0 shutout victory over Culver-Stockton College.
Baker got on the scoreboard early when Steven Stewart led the game off with a triple down the right field line. Joey Orozco’s hard hit grounder to second base scored Stewart and Baker didn’t need to score again thanks to a stellar effort by Cummins.
“Our guys just have a certain comfort level when he’s out there,” said Baker head coach Phil Hannon. “Winning 1-0 on the road is pretty impressive.”
