CANTON, Mo. – Chris Cummins wasted no time on Saturday afternoon, picking up his team-leading seventh victory of the season in a 1-0 shutout victory over Culver-Stockton College.
Baker got on the scoreboard early when Steven Stewart led the game off with a triple down the right field line. Joey Orozco’s hard hit grounder to second base scored Stewart and Baker didn’t need to score again thanks to a stellar effort by Cummins.
“Our guys just have a certain comfort level when he’s out there,” said Baker head coach Phil Hannon. “Winning 1-0 on the road is pretty impressive.”

Wildcats split non-conference doubleheader with Park
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University baseball team split its non-conference doubleheader with Park University on Tuesday afternoon at Sauder Field.
Game one saw the Pirates (16-15) jump out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, but they wouldn’t end up scoring again until the sixth when they opened the game up with a four run inning to grab a 5-0 victory.

Baseball splits with Benedictine and looks ahead to Park University
ATCHISON, Kan. – Anytime Benedictine and Baker square off it takes on more meaning in the grand scheme of a teams respective season.
This past weekend wasn’t any different for the Baker baseball team as the Wildcats split their season series with the Ravens. Baker dropped the opener on Saturday, 11-7, but bounced back with a 10-1 victory in the nightcap and 4-3 win in Sunday’s opener. The Ravens closed out Sunday’s doubleheader with a 6-1 victory.

Cummins and Wheelock dominate in BU sweep over Missouri Valley
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Senior Chris Cummins (5-1) dominated yet again throwing a complete game four-hit shutout on Wednesday afternoon against Missouri Valley College.
Baker scored seven runs in the second inning after the Vikings committed four errors and then rallied again in the fourth and fifth innings to score three runs in each.

Baker baseball set for showdown with Graceland Saturday
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University baseball team returns to the diamond on Saturday as the Wildcats welcome Graceland University for a neutral site game in Lawrence, Kan., at Free State High School for 1 p.m., doubleheader.
Baker (11-10, 1-1 HAAC) is coming off a split with Central Methodist University in their HAAC opener this past weekend. The Wildcats took a 13-4 victory in game one, before falling 5-4 in game two.

Big three set to anchor Baker pitching staff in 2012
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – After losing the season-opening series to No. 19 Rogers State in Oklahoma, Baker was primed for its home opener against Dakota State on Feb. 25-26.
Baker took the first two games of the series on Saturday, winning 3-2 in the opener and 7-2 in the nightcap. On Sunday, Dakota State shut out Baker 6-0 in the third game of the series before senior Nathan Wheelock (Russell, Kan.) delivered one of the most special pitching performances in Baker history.

Wheelock’s perfect game highlights 3-1 series victory over Dakota State
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University baseball team tallied its first series win of the season on Sunday afternoon by knocking off Dakota State, 3-0 in the finale for a 3-1 series win.
Nathan Wheelock highlighted the weekend by throwing a perfect game in the finale with seven strikeouts. Bryan Kindle, Joshua Zach, and Ryan Terstriep all added RBI’s in the 3-0 shutout.

Wildcats finish opening weekend 1-3 against No. 19 Rogers State
CLAREMORE, Okla. – With a 12-game head start and a 12-game winning streak, Baker knew it would have its hands full in the opening weekend against No. 19 Rogers State University (Okla.).
Baker dropped the opening game of the season on Saturday afternoon, 6-2. Joey Orozco and Bryan Kindle were the only Wildcats to record RBI’s in the contest. Senior Chris Cummins threw five innings on the bump while giving up five hits and four earned runs in the loss. View game one box score.
