Baker inks Ashley Werner to letter of intent
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Baker women's basketball head coach Susan Decker announced today the signing of Ashley Werner (Pittsburg, Kan.) to a national letter of intent.
“First and foremost, we noticed her toughness. She played extremely hard,” said Susan Decker. “She has a chance to come in and compete immediately."
As a senior, Werner averaged 12.4 points and 4.1 assists per game. For her efforts, she was named first-team All-League, All-County and second-team All-State.
“I’m a strong believer of bringing in players who know how to win,” Decker said. “Ashley fits that very well.”
Academically, Baker made sense. With a 4.0 GPA at St. Mary's Colgan High School, Werner plans to major in biology with the goal of becoming a physician’s assistant.
