Aubree Gustin

The Baker women’s basketball team will return to Baldwin City on Tuesday night for the 2010-11 home opener against Kansas Wesleyan University.

Baker (3-2) will look to bounce back after dropping a heartbreaking 62-59 overtime decision on Saturday at Park University. The Wildcats trailed by 21 points at halftime before rallying late to even the score to force the extra period.

Brittany Hines (15.2 points per game) and Emily Gibson (14.2) lead the offensive attack for the Baker women. Defensively, Aubree Gustin leads the team with 40 defensive rebounds, an average of 8.6 per game.

Gustin, who has 995 career points, looks to join an elite company on Tuesday. Currently ninth all time at Baker, Gustin needs five points to reach 1,000 for her career.

Kansas Wesleyan (4-0) is ranked No. 15 nationally in NAIA Division II. The Coyotes are led by Stephanie Frost, who averages 18 points and 9.8 rebounds a game. The Coyotes were picked second in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference coaches and media preseason poll. Two of the Coyotes’ four victories have been over Heart of America Athletic Conference opponents. KWU defeated Central Methodist University 69-68 in the season opener and rolled Culver-Stockton 71-57 in the second game of the season.
