Emily Gibson sparked the Wildcats off the bench netting 11 points on 5-for-10 shooting from the field while also pulling down eight rebounds. Brittany Hines and Courtney Goodrum each chipped in with eight points apiece.
Poor shooting was the story though. Central Methodist shot just 24 percent from the field (13-for-55) while Baker shot 34 percent (16-for-47).
Baker’s largest lead was 21 points, but Central Methodist chipped away late getting the lead down to 13 points with 1:23 remaining in regulation.
“We responded pretty well in the first half coming off a big win at No. 24 Evangel,” said head coach Susan Decker. “I thought Emily (Gibson) responded well coming off the bench, and that was my goal. Central Methodist didn’t shoot real well, but I hope some of that can be attributed to our defense.”
Baker (7-5, 3-1 HAAC) will now be idle until Dec. 29th when they travel to Phoenix, Ariz., for the Grand Canyon Classic.
“Our goal was to be 3-1 heading into the break after playing at two of the hardest venues in the HAAC, and that’s exactly what we did.” Decker added.
