Heading into the break the Wildcats (10-7, 5-2 HAAC) trailed 35-32, but hot shooting early in the second half led to Baker grabbing a 45-40 lead with 14 minutes remaining in regulation. The lead didn’t last. Baker went nearly nine minutes without scoring a single point and William Jewell Capitalized going on an 11-0 run. Baker clawed its way back into the game late going on an 18-2 run of their own to close out the Cardinals (10-6, 5-1 HAAC).
Emily Gibson led all Baker scorers with 18 points and nine rebounds. Brittany Hines added 17 points and Aubree Gustin chipped in with 12.
Points in the paint were key as the Wildcats outscored William Jewell College 36-24.
Baker will return to action on Saturday afternoon when it travels to Missouri Valley College for a 2 p.m., tip-off in Marshall, Mo.
