Three Wildcats scored in double figures as Emily Gibson and Brittany Hines each scored a team-high 16 points while Aubree Gustin added 14.
Turnovers were the story of the game though. Baker (11-7, 6-2 HAAC) committed 23 turnovers to Missouri Valley’s 21 turnovers. The Vikings didn’t hesitate to capitalize as they netted 24 points off turnovers.
The Wildcats led by as many as 20 points with four minutes remaining in regulation, but Missouri Valley College (4-15, 2-5 HAAC) went on a late 10-2 run to close the gap to 71-60.
“We need to tighten it up out there and show more emotion,” said head coach Susan Decker.
The Wildcats will return to action on Thurday evening when they face MidAmerica Nazarene at 5:30 p.m., in Baldwin City.
