Baker (14-14, 9-9 HAAC) led 32-26 heading into the break, but Missouri Valley managed to claw back into the game tying it at 44-44 with 11 minutes remaining. Baker continued to play gritty defense in the final ten minutes ultimately closing the game out.
Seniors Brittany Hines and Emily Gibson led the way offensively both shooting 6-for-12 from the field while netting 17 points apiece. Aubree Gustin added 10 points and eight rebounds.
The highlight of the game came in the final 25 seconds when the Vikings Shateah West had two floor thumping shots blocked by senior Emily Gibson. Gibson finished the afternoon with six blocks and 10 rebounds to record her eighth double-double of the season.
Missouri Valley College (7-22, 5-12 HAAC) had three players finish in double figures as Jonica Booth led the Vikings with 17 points. Hannah Young added 15 points and Shateah West finished with 14.
Baker will return to action on Thursday evening when it travels to MidAmerica Nazarene for a 5:30 p.m., tipoff in Olathe, Kan.
