Sluggish offense plagues BU women in season openerRae

SALINA, Kan. – The Baker University women’s basketball team dropped its season opener on Tuesday evening 74-51 to No. 4 Kansas Wesleyan University.

Rae Lynne Stewart (pictured) led the way offensively for Baker netting nine points on 2-for-3 shooting from the field and 5-for-6 shooting from the charity-stripe. As a team, Baker finished just 16-for-47 (34 percent) from the field and 2-for-15 (13.3 percent) from beyond the arc.

Rashida Simpson led the Baker defense with 10 rebounds and one block.

Turnovers were the story though as Baker committed an all-time high 38 turnovers. Kansas Wesleyan also outscored the Wildcats 32-16 in the paint.

Baker returns to action on Nov. 4 against Northwest Oklahoma State at 7:30 p.m. from the George F. Collins Center.
