Turnovers plague Baker in 70-57 loss to Benedictine

Atanmo Double-Double

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Gloria Atanmo racked up her seventh double-double of the season netting 15 points with 16 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough as Baker committed 26 turnovers and shot only 20-for-59 (34 percent) from the field in a 70-57 loss to Benedictine College on Thursday evening.

Benedictine (10-8, 5-2 HAAC) took a 35-24 lead into the break and never looked back from that point forward. Baker pulled to within five points at 35-30 just three minutes into the half, but a 13-3 run by the Ravens over the next five minutes sealed the game.

Baker (4-15, 2-6 HAAC) has two other players score in double figures at Shelbi Petty finished with 12 points and Alisha Fanshier chipped in with 10. Fanshier currently sits at 981 career points heading into Saturday’s contest with Central Methodist University.

Kelsey Anselmi and Teresa Zienkewicz led Benedictine with 13 points apiece and Kelsey Wolfe added 12 to round out the Ravens scoring. Benedictine finished the game 25-for-58 (43 percent) from the field and 8-for-19 (42 percent) from beyond the arc.

Baker returns to action on Jan. 21 against Central Methodist University at 2 p.m., in Fayette, Mo.
