Cold shooting sinks Wildcats in 61-43 defeat to Graceland

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – A 19-3 run by Graceland over the first nine minutes of the game doomed the Wildcats on Saturday afternoon as Baker fell, 61-43 to Graceland University.

Baker (6-22, 4-12 HAAC) shot just 3-for-27 (11 percent) from the field in the first half, while trailing 30-11 heading into the break.

Shelbi Petty, Avery Vogts and Gloria Atanmo led the Baker offense with seven points apiece, while Rae Lynne Stewart anchored the defense with 10 rebounds.

Graceland (11-11, 6-10 HAAC) had two players finish in double figures as Florida Siaosi scored a game-high 15 points and Kelsey Quirarte added 11. Siaosi also recorded her 17th double-double of the year pulling down 12 rebounds.  The Yellowjackets finished the game 26-for-59 (44 percent) from the field and 4-for-12 (33 percent) from beyond the arc.

Baker returns to action on Feb. 23 at 5 p.m., against Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan.
