BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University women's basketball team picked up its first win of the 2012-13 season in an 89-49 rout over Manhattan Christian College on Saturday afternoon at the Collins Center.

The Wildcats improved to 1-1 on the year and opened up the game with a 47-22 halftime lead and shot an impressive 52-percent from the field in the first frame.

Baker held MCC to 0-for-6 shooting from behind the three-point line in the first half and nine turnovers.

On the night, Baker had two scorers in double figures as Ericka Simpson led the way with 16 points and Kyrstie Ehm added 13.

13 Wildcats scored on Saturday afternoon and Baker dominated the glass, outrebounding the Crusaders, 53-23. Macy Wallisch had a team high seven boards.

Baker hit eight three-pointers, as Simpson hit two and Avery Vogts knocked down two. Lindsey Anderson led MCC with 18 points and Baker held MCC to just 27.9-percent shooting on the day.

Three Wildcats finished just outside of scoring in double figures, as Rece Huddlin had nine points as did teammates Haleigh Tenpenny and Vogts.

Baker will return to the Collins Center next Tuesday, Nov. 6 as they take on Haskell Indian Nations University at 5:30 p.m.
