Baker Extends Winning Streak to Four

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – With the help of senior Rece Huddlin's team high 15 points and five rebounds, the Baker University women's basketball team earned the season sweep over Graceland University and won its fourth straight HAAC game with an 85-78 win on Thursday night.

Baker is now 15-8 overall and 8-3 in the conference and remains in third-place all alone in the HAAC standings, while the Yellowjackets fall to 2-18 overall and 0-12 in the HAAC.

The Wildcats held Graceland to just 3-of-13 shooting from behind the arc in the first half, but the Yellowjackets caught fire in the second, hitting nearly 50-percent of its shots from three and kept them in the ballgame shooting 7-of-15.

Baker had four in double figures including Ciarra Washington with 14, who hit 4-of-5 from three, Shea Shoemaker poured in 11 and Alisha Fanshier had a double-double with 10 points and a team high 10 rebounds.

Graceland did outrebound Baker, 46-43, and had three double digit scorers of their own, as Jerica Smith finished with a game high 28 and Amber Quick scored 18 and Anna Belousava dropped 11.

The game went back-and-forth all night long with 13 lead changes and the score was tied nine times.

The Baker bench dominated GU, outscoring the Yellowjackets 26-3 and as a team, Baker scored 20 points in the paint, four of which came from Macy Wallisch off the bench.

The Wildcats shot well from three, connecting on 10-of-19 from beyond the arc and nailed 19-of-27 from the free-throw line.

Baker will look for five in a row, as they host Evangel this Saturday, Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. at the Collins Center.
