Baker Suffers First Loss of Season to OU

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Baker University women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the 2013-14 season on Friday night in day one of the HAAC/KCAC Challenge in a 70-66 loss to Ottawa University on its home floor.

Baker allowed five players from OU to score in double figures, as Ashley Romig dropped 14, Amber Ramsey had 13, Mikayla Skidmore and Shauna McClure each scored 11 and Madison Stewart poured in 10.

With the victory, OU picked up its first win of the season and improved to 1-4, while the 'Cats fell to 3-1.

Baker turned the ball over 21 times and missed nine free-throws. BriAnna Garza again led the way offensively with 21 points and Jami Hodge had 15 points on a solid 7-of-10 shooting from the floor.

The 'Cats did outrebound the Braves, 42-38, and Taylor Chase had a team high eight boards.

Baker connected on 10 three-point field goals, as Garza hit three and Avery Vogts nailed two.

The Wildcats will compete in day two of the HAAC/KCAC Challenge in the Collins Center against University of St. Mary on Saturday at 3 p.m. Live stats will be available at
